“How we pay attention to the present moment largely determines the character of our experience and, therefore, the quality of our lives.”
- Sam Harris
Sean offers guided meditation and pranayama (yogic breathwork) classes. His style of meditation classes (Mindfulness Meditation & Open-Awareness) is inspired mainly by the teachings of Sam Harris.
Sean’s focus is less on attaining heightened mental states and more on grasping the nature of the mind itself. By observing the workings of the mind with curiosity and openness, individuals can gain insight into the fundamental nature of consciousness, the mind, and the self.
Sean's approach also places a strong emphasis on the integration of meditation practice into everyday life. Rather than viewing meditation as a separate activity to be done in isolation, practitioners are to bring mindfulness and awareness into all aspects of their lives.
Sean has a background in Vipassana (Theravada Buddhism) meditation and holds qualifications in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), pioneered by Jon Kabat-Zinn, from The Irish Mindfulness Institute, and Pranayama (yogic breathwork) from Yogalap with Michael Bijker.
Sean embarked on his personal healing journey more than 5 years ago. After a period of prolonged depression, a result of feeling trapped and alienated by a conventional life, Sean left home on a somewhat cliched quest to “find himself”.
His travels brought him in close contact with nature and like-minded folk, and all the while, he found himself more and more enchanted with the natural world around him and all the magic in it.
"What you seek is seeking you", the ancient poet and mystic, Rumi, mused – and spirituality and in particular, meditation, soon found him. Through the practice of meditation, Sean found a profound sense of inner peace and clarity. He no longer felt so lost or trapped by circumstance, for he had found the true source of liberation within himself.
Since attending his first 10-day Vipassana retreat in 2017, he’s been practicing and exploring different styles of meditation including Zen, Dzogchen (Nondual Mindfulness), Metta (Loving-Kindness), and Mindfulness meditation.
Stargazing with a cup of herbal tea is my kind of a wild night out.
When I sing, it’s like a combination of a cat’s meow and a frog’s croak, but I do it with so much enthusiasm that I reckon I pull it off.
